Elise Fellows White was a Skowhegan, Me., violin prodigy, poet, and writer. She was born Mary "May" Elise Fellows in Skowhegan; attended the New England Conservatory in Boston at age 10 and also studied in Vienna and attended Colby College. In 1895-1896 toured the U.S. and Canada playing the violin. In 1898 she married Bruce White, a mine operator in British Columbia, and after her marriage lived in Nelson, B.C., for 10 years during which time she had two sons.
